阿里安—5运载火箭的两台大型固体助推器都是由三个装有HTPB复合推进剂的发动机分段和一个安装在柔性轴承上的喷管及一个点火器组成。助推器组装后高27m、直径3m、重268t(含推进剂237t)。 三个发动机分段由两种构件组成,都采用4SCDN—4—10钢。为了有较高的可靠性,未采用焊接方法。圆筒部分采用一种先进的剪力旋压工艺生产,前、后封头采用锻造方法制成。 组成分段的构件用锁销连接在一起。然后给分段贴热防护层,防护层由EPDM/硅(GSM55)和EPDM/凯夫拉(EG2)制成。采用浇注—粘接工序进行推进剂装填。
The two giant solid booms for the Ariane-5 carrier rocket are made up of three engine sections equipped with HTPB compound propellant and a nozzle mounted on a flexible bearing and an igniter.
