Its position in the world is also becoming more and more prominent and important. Table 1 lists the paper and paperboard production and their share in the world from 2003 to 2014 and in Asia, Europe and North America. As can be seen from Table 1, Asia ranks first with a total of 182.9 million tons of paper and paperboard production in Asia in 2014 while China’s paper and paperboard production was 104.7 million tons, accounting for 57.2% of the total output of paper and paperboard in Asia.
