The normal cardiogram database for human heart has been constructed and its readings can lead to a more correct diagnosis of heart disease. The researchers used a differential magnetometer to record normal heart. The device measures the magnetic field strength generated by the flow of charged particles through the cardiomyocytes and eliminates the interference of the surrounding magnetic field with the heart reading. Before the development of the differential magnetometer, the patient should be tested in a well 25 feet deep with a magnetic shield. Therefore, it is almost impossible to eliminate the surrounding magnetic field. The researchers believe that a database with normal readings can be used to identify abnormalities. In diagnosing certain heart conditions, such as detecting heart failure due to a heart attack or injury, a magnetometer may be more effective than an electrocardiogram.
