Since the reform and opening up, with the acceleration of the process of industrialization and urbanization, more and more rural laborers have been out of the land, out of the countryside and into the cities. According to a survey conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics, as of the end of 2008, the total number of migrant workers in China was 225 million, more than the number of industrial workers traditionally comprised of urban residents. In the current system, they maintain their status as farmers in non-agricultural employment and become well-known urban migrant workers. Accompanied by economic development, urban migrant workers have in fact become a large and special social group that can not be ignored, affecting the economy, politics and culture of the city
