In many cases, drugs that are poorly soluble in water-soluble and fat-soluble media can not overcome these solubility factors and their bioavailability problems using traditional methods. The preparation of drug nanoparticles (nanosuspensions) may serve as an alternative to overcome these problems. The main advantage of this technique is its general applicability and ease of handling for most drugs. This article describes the nanoparticle products made in the lab and discusses such things as increased saturation solubility and dissolution rates, as well as some outstanding special uses. For example, mucoadhesive nanosuspensions for oral administration and surface-modified drug nanoparticles for administration to specific parts of the brain. The possibility of mass production remains to be further discussed.
