南岳衡山,是我国五岳之一,有五岳独秀之称。它群峰巍蛾壮丽,千姿万态,蜂峦削翠。时而烟雨濛濛,重雾弥漫,使人云里雾里,莫测高深,便如隔世不知远;时而银海翻腾;时而红霞满天。林木仓翠,绝壑飞泉,溪流网布。一年的云雾在200天左右,年降水量在2400毫米左右,年平均气温在13℃左右,最低温度在零下17℃左右,相对湿度在84%以上,土层深厚肥沃并含有丰富的腐殖质。PH 值在4.5～5.5之间。这些,为南岳山茶叶生长创造了得天独厚的自然环境条件,野茶分布全山。
