Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) have immunomodulatory properties, but the underlying mechanisms are still not fully understood. In this study, we found that DPSCs have the ability to induce T-cell activation in vitro and that injection into mouse colitis models in vivo can improve inflammation-related tissue damage. Mechanistically, immune regulation induced by DPSCs is related to the expression of Fas ligand (FasL), a transmembrane protein that plays an important role in the induction of Fas apoptosis. Using siRNA to down-regulate the expression of FasL in DPSCs can reduce the in vitro induction of T-cells by DPSCs
