Irene Bauer was one of Britain’s most famous medieval historians in the first half of the 20th century. She is both an economic social historian and a women historian and feminist activist. In a short period of her life, she achieved brilliant academic achievement, which was universally recognized and respected by international historians and enjoyed a world reputation. However, in the decades after her death, Irene Bauer’s academic status has plummeted, rarely mentioned by later scholars, especially in the field of economic and social history. After the rise of Western academic feminism in the seventies and eighties of the 20th century, Erin Bauer was rediscovered and excavated by the academic circles and the phenomenon of submerged academic contributions was partially reversed. However, the bizarre contrast between Irene Bauer and his pre-death academic reputation needs to be taken seriously and rethought in academia.
