Poetic novels are the product of the trend of thought of literature and art and also the core of Woolf’s works. The textual vocabulary, characters and rhetorical features of “Lady Dalloway” and “To the Lighthouse” are all characterized by “poetic novel”. The analysis shows that the texts are concise and plain, and the prominent use of color words enhances the aesthetic beauty of language. The clever use of punctuation marks enhances the sense of rhythm of texts. The extensive use of metaphorical rhetoric enhances the artistic conception of texts and poems. The interpretation of the poetic features of Woolf’s works helps readers to better understand the author’s linguistic choices and also provides a sufficient basis for the literary interpretation.
