In the first lunar month of 2000, I came to collect folk songs in Ansai County, Yan’an, northern Shaanxi. Living in the hometown of the cave, and loess on the ground slowly blend together. I am deeply touched by their kindness and simplicity, and are also attracted by the folk customs on this loess land. By chance, I learned that there was a solemn funeral ceremony at Hou Village. According to the introduction of the villagers, the death of the local people over the age of 60 was a funeral. The deceased person in Hou Village is an elderly person who is over seventy years old. The funeral ceremony will be more livelier than the local wedding. The next day, I came to the funeral scene, using a camera to record the unique folk customs of northern Shaanxi. The people in this land have always been open to the illness and death of the elderly, and let it be. They call it
