A bubble-free impression is important for making accurate restorations. Many factors affect the inclusion of air bubbles in the impression, in particular the operator's clinical procedures and techniques. Any method or material that reduces bubble generation is welcome. The purpose of this study was to verify whether a surfactant formulated for clinical use can reduce the amount of visible air bubbles on the surface of several impression materials. In this study, the following impression materials were used: one kind of condensation silicone rubber, four kinds of polyvinyl siloxane, one kind of polyether silica gel, one kind of polythioether silica gel and one kind of irreversible hydrocolloid impression material. Experiments were randomly assigned to use different materials.
