Polarization-Maintaining Wavelength Division Multiplexers, manufactured by Micro-Optics of New Jersey, USA, are devices for pumping erbium-doped fiber amplifiers. Pumping at 980 nm and 1480 nm has a small extinction ratio (less than 20 dB). The typical residual loss is 0.5 dB. The return loss is greater than 60 dB over a wider wavelength range.
