Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of Tongsaimailian tablet (TSM) on rat atherosclerosis (AS) and to explore its mechanism. Methods: AS model was established by feeding high-fat diet plus vitamin D3. After treatment with TSM, vascular morphology, CD40, CD40 Ligand (CD40L) Vascular expression and serum inflammatory cytokine C-reactive protein (CRP) changes. Results: TSM could significantly improve arterial morphology and decrease the serum levels of CRP in model group (8.19 ± 2.82 mg / L, 5.19 ± 1.89 mg / L, The TSM group had a high dose (5.17 ± 2.60) mg / L and a low dose (5.24 ± 2.52) mg / L (P <0.05), while inhibited the expression of CD40 and CD40L in the blood vessels (P <0.05, P <0.01). Conclusion: TSM achieves the therapeutic effect on AS by reducing the level of inflammation in the body.
