阿特伍德的长篇小说《肉体伤害》将“肉体伤害”这一主题置于两个不同的后殖民语境中进行观察、对比和表征,赋予了加拿大这个年轻的后殖民国家以孩童般单纯顽皮的正面的文化形象,对美国新殖民文化以及英国旧殖民文化表现出明显的肯定和认同,而对前英国殖民地的文化“他者”则进行妖魔化叙述,折射出阿特伍德作为“定居者殖民地”作家所特有的权力意识和帝国意识。
Atwood’s novel “Physical Injury” places the subject of “physical injury” in two different postcolonial contexts for observation, comparison and characterization, giving children, a young Canadian post-colonial nation, The purely naughty and positive cultural image shows a clear affirmation and recognition of the neo-colonial culture in the United States and the old colonial culture in the United Kingdom. The demonization narration of the culture of the other British colonies, however, reflects that Atwood As a “colonizer of settlers” writer’s unique sense of power and empire consciousness.
