新课程改革特别强调改变学生的学习方式,大力提倡面向全体学生的多样化的探究性学习,强调学生作为个体主体的参与和体验,主体的感知,知识的主观建构并要求老师积极引导学生反思、创造、合作、交流。对于以上要求,多数英语老师都把重点放在丰富课堂教学形式上,而对学习检验——作业的布置却不甚重视。导致英语作业的形式过于单一化、笼统化、绝对化。其实,英语作业是英语教学的一个组成部分。通过布置作业,教师可以了解学生掌握基础知识的情况和综合运用语言的能力,获得教学的反馈信息,检查教学效果,总结教训经验,改进教学方法,以提高教学质量。由此可见,对布置作业的探讨是极其有必要的。
