Objective: To investigate the changes of microvessel density (MVD) after selective arterial chemoembolization in cervical cancer. Methods: Fifty-two patients with stage Ⅰb2 ~ Ⅱb cervical cancer undergoing selective arterial chemoembolization were divided into two groups according to the short-term clinical curative effect. The changes of MVD in the two groups before and after embolization of arterial chemoembolization were analyzed. Results: MVD in both effective and non-effective arterial chemoembolization groups was lower than that before treatment, while effective group decreased more than that of ineffective group. However, there was no significant difference between MVD and chemoembolization in effective group (P > 0.05). Conclusion: MVD after chemoembolization can reflect the blood supply and cell activity of residual cancer to a certain extent, which may be influenced by many factors. Such as shortening the interventional chemotherapy intermittent time and chemotherapy after the operation of the embolization may improve the efficacy, such as arterial embolization in combination with anti-angiogenic drugs may improve the efficacy.
