我国的火烙画,顾名思义,就是以火、以烙为墨为笔。显然,火味、烙味是构成火烙画创新手法的最基本的调子。长期以来,我对火烙画的研究,有所得益,对用“笔”、用“墨”、用色、用“纸”等方面都进行了一些有效尝试,一反常规、锐意变革。也就是说在用“笔”上做到既用大烙铁作大画,采用大烙铁作小画,一笔到底,不另更换。籍此,来改变原有火烙画小烙笔作大画那种纤弱无力、底气不足的传统路子,使之烙味醇厚、有力;在用“墨”上,用喷灯作泼墨渲染,来取代过去那种有线无墨的平板构图,使之火味突出,浓淡相破,浑厚华滋,远近疏密,融合一体;在用色上采用火色相破,一反传统用色上的单一手法,使之色不碍烙、烙不碍色,火色迷离、经久不剥。同时,对过去色彩易剥的工艺也作了填补;在用“纸”上,选取原木薄板,根据自然纹理,或作山水、或作人物、或作花卉等等,改变了以前对木板自然纹理与表现内容这样相互关系的忽视;在表现的题材和内容上也比以前来得广阔和丰富。对于这些表现艺术手法,我都进行了大胆的创新求变和有效的尝试,在一定程度上提高了我国火烙的艺术品位和审美层次。
