Objective To investigate the possible influence of age, education level and hypertriglyceridemia on cognitive function in patients with metabolic syndrome (MS). Methods Totally 86 MS patients were hospitalized in Department of Cardiology, Shanxi Provincial People’s Hospital from August 2008 to December 2008. Cognitive assessment was performed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale (MoCA). Results Age was an independent predictor of cognitive function in patients with MS (OR = 1.075, P <0.05). No effect of education or hypertriglyceridemia was found on cognitive function. Conclusion Age is an independent predictor of cognitive function in patients with MS.
