厚钢板一般是要求厚度均匀一致。新日本制铁公司打破这种旧框框,开发了一种新的差压波形厚钢板。这种钢板的主要特点是对承受外力大的部位进行重点强化,因而可防止整个构造件产生挠度,保证各部位的等强度。在板材压延时,板厚的调整通过压力计控制而呈周期性变化,其变化范围为16~22毫米。波的间距为900毫米以上。这种钢板用于制造大型油轮时,可使油轮重量减轻15~20%。
