The existing 4667km road network of Cuban railways was first constructed by a private company in the United States. Its standards are fully compatible with the U.S. railway standards. The total length of the Cuban railway is 835km, connecting the eastern and western parts of the island to major cities such as Havana and San Diego. Ⅱ level lines and extensions, the entire island of Cuba into a complete network. Before the victory of the Cuban Revolution, there were 4 port rail lines that crossed the U.S. railroad across the Florida Strait by train ferry. In 1962, the United States began to impose a trade embargo on Cuba, interrupting the connection between the Cuban railway and the U.S. railway. Since then, there has been a shortage of fuel in Cuba, a hard-to-develop automobile and the railway has become Cuba’s major means of transport. The railway runs 338 train points on a daily basis. In 1996, 1180 passengers were transported across the road, with a passenger turnover of 1.488 billion km2, 4.42 million tons of goods transported, and a cargo turnover of 770 million tons per km.
