外语教学的最终目的是培养学习者的交际能力。然而,学习者能否进行有效的交流,不仅仅取决于他们的语法能力,也取决于其语用能力。根据学习者对于学习目标的意识程度会影响其对该目标的学习效果这一理论,作者以实证研究的方式着重探讨了我国非英语专业学生的语法意识与语法能力、语用意识与语用能力之间的关系。提出在确保我国交际教学法所带来的学生语用意识和语用能力大幅度提高的同时,希望实现交际教学法向交际——语法教学法的过渡,从而提高学习者的语法能力,确保我国外语人才的质量。
