The vast majority of reports about the Soviet air defense network deal only with the number of deployments and provide aerial photographs. However, an in-depth evaluation of computers, interfaces, radar units and displays can reveal the current status of Soviet air defense radars. The conclusion is: Although the Soviet radar air defense network is vast, but from the Soviet Union data revealed that its quality and reliability are problems. The combination of design, maintenance, climatic factors and work capabilities make the Soviet air defense radar some good performance (such as the ability to detect low-altitude targets), but some of the performance is still a reliability issue. Studies show that 50-70% of the errors in the use of Soviet radars by operators are due to the design of drone engineering. About 30% of the Soviet radio reportedly can not be used. • The Soviet Union’s practice of radar maintenance uses non-standard components because waiting for standard components can delay maintenance time.
