To improve the eco-environment of the wet sand molding, Clariant introduced a low-emission additive technology that will reduce the BTEX emissions from the foundry’s wet sand system to 80% and optimize production efficiency to reduce casting surface roughness . The main technologies for reducing bentonite from wet sand are currently discussed with a view to assessing the potential of this technology and contributing to the required sustainability improvements for foundries and related industries. It outlines the principles of the new technology and explains the company’s innovative development of a new test method for the measurement and comparison of the new technology with the aromatics emission of wet sand with a light carbon-forming agent under actual casting conditions. Finally, the results of the practical application of the new low-emission additive technology in the European foundry are demonstrated.
