According to the May issue of Laser Focus, May 1979, Naval Research Laboratories in the United States has used high-power carbon dioxide lasers to apply corrosion-resistant coatings that are more resistant to corrosion than other techniques lasting. In this “laser coating” technique, a powdery coating material is sprayed into a laser beam, and the laser beam then melts the powder to be sprayed onto the metal surface. The laser beam is 10 kilowatts and focused on a point 0.5 centimeters in diameter, scanning 50 centimeters per second on metal. The biggest problem is that only a small amount of melted powder can adhere to the metal, creating a poor coating. Increase the speed of the powder to avoid this problem. In the early days
