In 1988, the annual inflation rate in Latin America will significantly exceed the level of the previous year. The situation in high-inflation countries such as Brazil, Argentina and Peru remains cause for concern. The monthly inflation rate for the first five months in Brazil basically controlled below 18%, surpassing the high level of 20% since June, and the annual inflation rate reached 495.5% as of August. Argentina started out of control of inflation from the beginning of the year and then increased month by month. The monthly inflation rate surpassed the highest level reached in 1985 and the annual inflation rate reached as high as 439.6% as of August. Peru’s monthly inflation reached 30.9% in July
