In the 18th century France, the High Court, which burned Enlightenment books, was not just the enemy of the Enlightenment; in fact Enlightenment had infiltrated this ancient judiciary. Nor should enlightenment philosophers in any attempt to deconstruct all their traditions with the power of reason. They (except Voltaire), while aware of the drawbacks of the High Court, still wish to uphold their political status. In addition, the media warfare caused by the Mop reform in the High Court objectively favors the widespread dissemination of enlightenment ideas and advances the process of political enlightenment.
