通过系列变率模型试验研究表明,模型变态对水流与泥沙运动均有不同程度的影响:当变率不大于10,且分流角与两汊过流横断面面积相差均不大时,模型变态对汊道的分流比影响甚微;当变率大于4、模型宽深比小于5 时,模型变态对纵向垂线平均流速分布、弯道水流动力轴线及其河床变形影响较大,并且模型变态对泥沙冲淤相似的影响较对流场的影响更为敏感。研究还表明,模型变率大小的选择与研究问题的性质密切相关
