LTV is likely to have recently signed a contract to produce the U.S. Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) at a low rate. LTV is the prime contractor for such long-range, conventional ground missiles. The missile will be launched by the Army Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS). To shorten the development cycle, a full-scale 48-month development plan has to be overlaid on low-rate production, and so far five successful launch tests have been conducted on the missile. ATACMS Elastic 3.96 meters long, diameter of 0.61 meters, used to attack deep areas of the target. The United States will allocate $ 66.9 million for the project in fiscal year 1989
