In 2016, the U.S. military is ready to reduce the scale of its military operations in Afghanistan, but it will still fight in turbulent and civil strife areas where it may be difficult to distinguish between the enemy and ourselves. According to analysts and industry officials, the demand for non-destructive technologies in the U.S. military will only continue to grow as non-destructive (non-lethal) weapons become lighter, more portable and have longer range. In a 2014 report, Dan Inbar, chief technology officer for the US Center for Homeland Security, said it expects to double its share of the global non-destructive weapons market by 2020.
