国家“七五”期建设的重点工程项目——东平水道,是西江航运干线的重要组成部分,由思贤滘水道、北江下游、潭洲水道、平洲水道等连接而成,自思贤滘至广州全长76公里,为西江通往广州的捷径。东平水道航道整治工程于1985年1月动工。按三级航道标准建设,1990年底竣工,并经国家竣工验收委员会组织竣工验收,工程总投资3200万元。经多个典型枯、洪水文年的考验,取得长河段整治的成功,经专家评定工程质量为优良,荣获交通部科技进步一等奖和国家科技进步二等奖。东平水道现已全线基本建成通航千吨级轮驳船队的三级航道。航道建设效益突出:1985年东平水道货运量为642万吨,1997年已达4200万吨。水运的发展,大大改善了投资环境,有力促进了腹地经济、特别是外向型经济的发展。东平水道两岸厂矿林立,沿岸先后建建立了3个经济开发区,目前渤海湾、华东、东南沿海的部分海轮已进入东平水道运输。 在广东省省委、省政府的领导下,当前广东经济发展很快,要在2020年率先实现现代化。广东省水利部门拟议建设思贤滘苦水利枢纽工程,作为西
