《大学英语教学大纲》提出:“大学英语教学的目的是培养学生具有较强的阅读能力,一定的听的能力,初步的写和说的能力,使学生能以英语为工具,获取专业所需要的信息,并为进一步提高英语水平打下较好的基础。”从大纲的要求中可以看出,在学习英语的四项基本技能——读、听、写、说中,读居于首位。全国大学英语四、六级统考题也体现了这一点。因此,可以说,阅读水平的高低是衡量学生英语水平高低的一个重要标准。提高学生的阅读能力也应是大学英语教学的中心。这就要求我们在阅读课教学中,研究新问题,认识新规律,探索提高阅读能力的新途径。本文拟就以下几个问题进行浅陋的论述。
