The Muhe fault zone is an important NW-trending seismic fault zone in the western Sichuan Province. The modern tectonic activity was intense with a L-shaped dislocation property. The northern segment of the fault, which resembles the north-south Anninghe fault zone near Xining and the north-south Anninghe fault zone, appears to be non-intersecting and constitutes a special seismogenic structure. A series of previous strong earthquakes occurred here repetitively. In the southern segment of the fault, due to the intersection of multiple faults, the rock is extremely crushed, which is not conducive to the storage of a large amount of strain energy, and often releases strain energy in the form of moderate and small earthquakes. The research data show that the northern segment of the fault is a developing fault and a contiguous zone of the structure, which is conducive to the accumulation of strain energy. Therefore, enough attention should be paid to the seismic risk in the northern segment.
