如今在中国文坛提起刘庆邦的名字,简直可以说无人不知,无人不晓。尤其是他的短篇,早已自成境界,多数作品像《鞋》、《梅妞放羊》等已成名篇。这些都是批评家门该发的言论,无须我们这些写印象记的人赘言。印象当中,庆邦是个讷于言,敏于行的人。平常他的话不多,一般在人多的场合,无论是集体出游还是聚会欢宴,总听不到他的声音,仿佛他这人并不在场。但每逢开口,必有妙语警句或惊人之语。就像他的小说,总是不声不响,却总是那么地道,透着股厚重底蕴和顽强坚韧性,还有眯缝起眼睛笑的那么一股聪明、狡黠的劲儿。
