Based on the study of temporal and spatial distribution of sedimentary facies, source rocks and geochemical characteristics of oil and gas formation, the Jurassic source rocks of Junggar Basin are divided into two major types: swamp phase and lacustrine phase. The hydrocarbon generation components of marsh facies hydrocarbon source rocks are mainly composed of matrix vitrinite and chitoid from higher plants, and the reservoirs formed are J1b reservoir of Qi Gu oilfield. The hydrocarbon generation components of lacustrine source rocks are mainly algae, Algal amorphous body, amylolytic amorphous body, chitin group and vitrinite group, which are mainly distributed in the belly desert depression and Fukang depression, which are semi-deep lacustrine-shallow lacustrine sediments. The organic matter is mainly type II, Part of the partial Ⅰ or Ⅱ type, forming a Cainan oil and some wells oil and gas. The source rocks of marsh facies have a Ro value of 0.5% ~ 0.9% during the hydrocarbon generation stage. The evolution of source rocks in the lacustrine phase is also generally low, with Ro values ranging mostly from 0.5% to 0.8%. The compositional characteristics of biomarkers of source rocks in lacustrine facies obviously reflect the difference of their source composition ratio and thermal evolution degree. Differentiation and maturity make the light components premature, early stage, hydrocarbon expelling stage, obviously low maturity and mature two oil and gas producing zones, the former is about 0.4% ~ 0.7% during the hydrocarbon generation period, the latter is 0.8% ~ 1.2%. The Jurassic belly in the Junggar Basin, especially the Middle and Lower Jurassic, are not all coal-bearing strata. Therefore, enough attention should be paid to the exploration strategy.
