Recently, our reporter lived in Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. A more extensive and in-depth interview was conducted on the education reform issue, which brought forth new insights. The rapid economic development in the SEZ has brought a brand new issue to education: how to keep education in the twinkling of an eye? How to follow the reform of the economic system, reform the education management system, and take the “big pot” and the “iron chair”? How to reform the existing textbooks and teaching methods to adapt to the situation of “knowledge-intensive” and “technology-intensive” SEZs? How to reform secondary education structure to meet the needs of a large number of intelligent workers in modern enterprises? Under this theme, we should cultivate a new generation of people with the true nature of the proletariat. Such issues as these and the educational circles in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone have already done some explorations and attempts. As a microcosm of China’s opening-up policy, Shenzhen Special Economic Zone will be built into a window of “management window, technology window, knowledge window and foreign policy.” Despite the particularity of the educational reform in the SEZs, pioneering attempts to orient education towards the modernization, the world and the future will undoubtedly play a “window” role in the educational reform in the Mainland.
