By the end of 1995, the balance of savings deposits of urban and rural residents in China had reached about 3 trillion yuan. Although many people participate in saving, buying Treasury bonds, “speculating in stocks,” many still feel that investment channels are narrow and prices have risen too fast. As a result, a new investment channel integrating ornamental value and collectible value, which can not only preserve value and increase value but also avoid risks, has emerged as a result of the purchase of gold and silver commemorative coins. In 1979, with the approval of the State Council, the People’s Bank of China issued for the first time foreign currency commemorative coins for the 30th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Up till now, silver and silver commemorative coins of over 800 varieties have been successively distributed in more than 30 series including Panda, 12 Lunar New Year, ancient inventions and discoveries, and outstanding historical figures.
