Angus Deaton, a British economist, was awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for his excellent research on consumption, poverty and well-being. Deaton has made outstanding contributions in many fields of economics, including microeconomics, macroeconomics, development economics and microeconometrics. He closely integrates theory with measurement, and links micro-data with macro-data through specific statistical methods to study the issues related to human welfare. These studies not only have a profound impact on economic theory, but also play an important role in the formulation of practical policies. The dissertation summarizes the major academic contributions of Deaton, summarizes the revelations of his successful achievements on the existing research, puts forward some research directions and scientific issues that deserve attention, and hopes to promote our research in related fields.
