The article describes the “market-style” vegetable gardens and gardens behind the houses of Chinese in Australia. The author believes that these gardens reflect the unspeakable Chinese tradition. Perhaps it was these gardens and the Chinese who built the garden that caused us to seriously think about issues such as tradition and heritage. These gardens have gone through several generations in Australia and their changes reflect the traditional Chinese vitality, creativity and infinite adaptability.
