Analysis on the Influencing Factors of High School Students’ English Learning

  As a high school student, English is a very important subject in high school study, which occupies a very important position in the college entrance examination.It is difficult to learn because it is a foreign language. Especially in the absence of effective English learning methods, it is easy to cause students lack interest in English learning, unable to remember words, grammatical errors and other problems. I will analyze the influencing factors of high school students’ English learning and share my English learning experience with you based on my previous English learning experience.
  1. Factors influencing English learning of high school students
  In many subjects, English can be a pain point in the study of many students, there is always a sense of helplessness no matter how to learn. After a brief analysis of my English learning, I think there are the following factors:
  1.1 Lack of interest in learning English, just to complete learning tasks.In class, many students have little interest in learning and have no desire to learn actively. They are not willing to read aloud, and even less willing to learn grammar.Sometimes when the teacher speaks grammar, the students become sleepy and thus hate to learn English.
  1.2 Do not want to open mouth to read aloud, afraid of being laughed at by classmates, worried about teachers do not like me.English is a subject of learning a language. Teachers often encourage us to communicate more in English in class and let us read the English text aloud.The teacher has enlightened me many times, but I still dare not read aloud.
  1.3 It is easy to forget the words after memorizing, and can not use grammar well.When dictating a word, the teacher gives an explanation in Chinese and I can not tell the corresponding English word.In addition, when writing an English composition, I am not be able to organize complete and smooth sentences.
  1.4 Unable to understand what the teacher is saying, I become increasingly unwilling to listen.A lot of time is rote, cannot apply the knowledge that learns flexibly.After the mistake, we can’t find out the reason, we always make mistakes.
  2. Effective strategies for high school students in learning English
  As a foreign language, English is naturally difficult to learn, but as the saying goes, “methods are always more difficult than difficulties”. There are no problems that cannot be solved. In view of the above problems, the following solutions are proposed:   2.1 Learn more about the local conditions and customs of english-speaking countries after class, indirectly stimulate my interest in learning, take the initiative to learn English, and love learning English. The culture of a country has infinite charm and attraction. After having a full understanding of the english-speaking countries, I always wants to have a look and take a walk. But to learn English well first, communication can be without obstacles. In this way, I can not only motivate myself to learn English, but also encourage myself to communicate with others in English.
  2.2 Imitate and learn, correct pronunciation, and express yourself boldly.As for English accent, you should not be afraid of it.Secondly, we should learn to imitate. We should deliberately imitate, following the words and sentences, imitating the tone, rhythm and pause of the readers, etc. Finally, we can try to imitate the original English movie, and try to dub it by ourselves.Of course, learning English songs is also a good way to learn.
  2.3 Put words in sentences and articles to understand, rather than simply memorizing a word.When memorizing words, you can also strengthen the grammatical impression and experience the written language expression habits in English.Reading a book a hundred times reveals its meaning.Reading more articles and sentences can help to deepen the understanding of vocabulary, cultivate language sense and improve the ability of English language comprehension.
  2.4 Read, speak and write more.English is a kind of language and language is used for communication, so we must speak more. We can chat with teachers in English or form English corner with classmates to communicate in English.At the same time, we should write more and put it into writing. We can try to write letters and articles in English and ask the teacher to correct them. We can also copy the English sentences and articles we like.
  2.5 Ask until you understand.Confucius said, “to know is to know, to know is to know.”In class, don’t pretend to know what you don’t know.
  3. Conclusion
  English is a very different language from our mother tongue, so it is difficult to learn.We learn English without a natural language environment.At the same time, learning English can be said to be simple.English is relatively easy to understand because of its low pronunciation, low grammatical changes.All in all, English learning is not as difficult as imagined.
