(一)我和朱葵有“缘”。上个世纪60年代初,我离开故乡江苏高邮去北京读大学,而后到南京工作:他则由南京师大毕业,离开故乡南京去高邮工作。我们在70年代初相识,颇有一见如故之感。改革开放以后、我们同在南京,而且在90年代成为江苏省美术馆的正、副馆长,他负责全面工作,我分管研究、收藏和展览业务,配合得和谐而默契。许多画界朋友误以为他也是高邮人,戏称我们为“高邮帮”。我想这当中的原因,不仅因为他曾在高邮工作了18年,更重要的是他创作的山水画多半与高 (A) I and Zhu Kui have “edge.” In the early 1960s, I left my hometown Gaoyou, Jiangsu Province, and went to Beijing to work in Nanjing.
