The absorption spectra and colorimetric properties of platinum (Ⅳ) - cobalt (Ⅱ) solution and chromium (Ⅵ) - cobalt (Ⅱ) solution which are used as the standard of determination of water quality are compared. As a standard of feasibility and rationality to make judgments. The results show that although there is a colorimetric difference and metamerism between the two, it is difficult for human beings to distinguish the color tone. Chromium (Ⅵ) -cobalt (Ⅱ) solution is used as a standard in actual measurement The errors are within the allowable error range. However, the chromium (Ⅵ) - cobalt (Ⅱ) solution is worse than the platinum (Ⅳ) - cobalt (Ⅱ) solution in the light and temperature stability. Attention to the preservation method and effective use of time.
