攀枝花市建市之初,人们并未认识到苏铁的重要意义和价值,生存和发展的需要使生态和工业两种文明形成了对立。毁林开荒、放牧、农垦、开矿、盗挖和贩卖等活动对攀枝花苏铁原始天然林造成了严重破坏,攀枝花苏铁数量急剧下降。为了抢救这种稀有、珍贵和古老的孑遗植物,攀枝花公园和攀枝花市园林科研所在1978年开始了攀枝花苏铁的迁地保护工作。
At the beginning of the founding of Panzhihua City, people did not realize the importance and value of Cycas. The need of survival and development made the two civilizations of ecology and industry form the opposite. Activities such as deforestation, grazing, land reclamation, mining, piracy and trafficking have caused serious damage to the original natural forests of the Cycadine in Panzhihua, and the number of Cycads in Panzhihua has dropped dramatically. In order to rescue this rare, precious and ancient relic plants, Panzhihua Park and Panzhihua City Garden Research Institute started the relocation of the Panzhihua Cycas in 1978.
