《诺桑觉寺》(Northanger Abbey)是简·奥斯丁完成较早但迟至小说家去世后才出版的一部作品,在简·奥斯丁的六部小说名著中研究相对较少。笔者认为,从严格意义上来讲,《诺桑觉寺》既非一部简单的浪漫主义小说,亦非一部典型的现实主义小说,而是一部对当时流行的哥特小说的戏仿之作。它通过对凯瑟琳与来自诺桑觉寺一家人的短暂交往以及自我发现的经历,对哥特小说脱离现实的特点进行了温和的反讽。笔者以哥特小说理论为背景,以最典型的哥特小说作品为参照,通过对《诺桑觉寺》的文本细读,从环境布局、人物塑造、故事情节以及效果诸方面,展现其对哥特小说的戏仿。 Northanger Abbey, a work that Jane Austen completed shortly after he was published but later than the novelist’s death, is relatively poorly studied in Jane Austen’s six novels. The author believes that, strictly speaking, “Nosang Khan Temple” is neither a simple romantic novel nor a typical realistic novel, but a parody of the popular Gothic novel Make. Through a brief encounter with Catherine and a family from Northampton Jue Temple and through his own self-discovery, it gives a gentle irony of the divorced reality of the Gothic novel. Based on the Gothic novel theory and the most typical Gothic novel works, the author shows its influence on the layout of the environment, the characterization, the storyline and the effect through careful reading of the text of “Northampton Jue Temple” Gothic fiction parody.
