The use of innate athymic nude mice to establish animal model of human cancer is a significant progress in tumor model research. These models have been used extensively in various studies. The discovery of nude rats and the success of human cancer xenotransplantation add a new tool to cancer workers. Recently, two AFP-positive human hepatocellular carcinoma models, LTNR_1 and LTNR_2, were successfully established in our laboratory and passed on to the 14th and 5th generation, respectively.
