Compared with other countries such as Britain and the United States, Australia has a sparsely populated market, limited market capacity and fierce competition in the publishing industry. The threshold for entering the publishing industry is very high. Both people in the industry and those who want to enter the publishing industry hope to gain further professional qualifications through further studies. In order to meet this need, from the late 1980s onwards, higher education in Australia conducted a reform and gradually found its place in the reform and formed its own characteristics. Understanding the orientation and characteristics of Australian higher publishing education is a useful reference for exploring the development of higher publishing education in China.
