近30年时间中,投诉调解和消费指导一直是广州市消委会的工作重心。在这两个基点上,广州市消委会在保护消费者权益方面也取得良好的成绩。1984年,中国第一批消费者权益保护组织成立,广州市消委会便是各大城市中“第一个吃螃蟹的人”。时值改革开放大潮初兴,南方经济较为活跃发达,消费纠纷也不断涌现,民众已经有了一定的消费维权意识,自发到工商、质监等部门去投诉,广州市消委会也应运而生。
