日本是世界上冷库容最较大的国家之一,据运输省统计资料,日本近十年来冷库的发展情况如表所示。冷库总容量中,商业冷库占百分之七十四,其余百分之二十六为私人所有。在日本,库温为-20℃或-20℃以下的冷库划定为“F”级,占总容量的百分之七十五,主要用于鱼类冷藏。鱼类冷藏占总冷藏商品量的百分之四十六点一,畜产品为百分之十四点八。定“F”级的冷库逐年增长,而且倾向于迠设大型冷库。
