According to recent geochemical studies in the Chilcan And-es region, Arm-brust et al. (1971) and Oyarzun (1971, 1974) argue that Rb and Sr are produced from altered andesite and basaltic porphyry copper Which is a potential indicator of ore deposits but found to be less than ideal for geochemical comparisons of altered granite intrusions.Warren et al. (1974) proposed that Ba and Sr be used as geochemical means for finding ore bodies in volcanic rocks. Geochemistry and geology are related to the general enrichment of Rb and the reduction of Sr in some types of hydrothermal alteration associated with porphyry copper deposits.
