In remote search radar designs, it is often necessary to trade off between the maximum unambiguous detection range and the achievable coherent spurious suppression performance. We introduce a new waveform that gives designers the flexibility they have not been able to achieve in previous radar designs by not affecting the maximum fussy search distance and improving clutter rejection. The key to validating this new waveform is the existence of a useful NTI pulse canceler design for N-pulse nonrecursive moving target displays (MTIs) that requires the radar to transmit only N-1 pulses (non-uniformly spaced).
