变色液晶为胆甾型液晶或手性液晶,其螺距随温度变化并选择性地吸收和反射可见光,其结果是这种液晶随温度高低或太阳光辐射强弱的变化而呈现出不同的颜色。 变色液晶产品生产技术便是利用了胆甾型或手性液晶的这一特点,将其涂复在不同的产品上形成变色液晶产品,变色液晶产品共分两大类: 1.感光变色液晶产品,随太阳光的强弱变化指定的颜色（红、蓝、黄、紫） 产品有:海滩帽、玩具、茶杯、太阳镜、衣服、耳环、发夹、雨伞、商标。
